Welcome to your community website

Internet users are now getting used to the website and I have been delighted to exhibit pictures, advertise events, and pass on messages. I am able to see that these articles are being viewed which gets the message out far and wide.

I would love to see this gain momentum during 2018. What I'm really keen to get is your recipe contributions. To be honest, with the exception of one early one, during this year they've all been mine - which must be getting a bit boring. So send them in please. Use the link, mail me on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. (no direct link into this address from here) or simply ring me on 01237 451193. If you only have paper copy it doesn't matter - if you want to go into publication on this site, we can make it happen together.

Have a fantastic Christmas everyone. Thank you for your help in getting this off the ground in 2017 - it is actually coming up to it's first birthday!

The Christmas Market has started off the season (pictures in Gallery and on the Notice Board) along with todays Christingle Service.

This is just the start - come along and see the display of decorated Christmas trees in the parish church (a few pictures also on the Notice Board). This goes on until Twelfth Night and is open during daylight hours.

The bellringers will be meeting on the green at 7 p.m. on 12th, singing around the village.Everyone and anyone wanting to brave the cold is welcome - be generous if they come to your door.

There is a meeting of the 4 o'clock Club in the hall on 14th with a Christmassy theme - a good sing along from 4-5.30 p.m.See events calendar for poster with full information.

The annual candlelit Carol Service here will take place in the parish church at 6.30 p.m. on Sunday 17th.Note from this year's organisers:-Anyone willing to supply a dozen mincepies for the Carol Service next Sunday (17th) please contact Jacqui Watson on 01237 451437 - thank you.

And for those who would like to observe Christmas Eve, not quite into Christmas Day, there is a communion service ("not quite Midnight Mass") in the parish church at 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

From 2nd December, in the parish church (St Mary & St Benedict) for the Advent and Christmas periods, there is an exhibition of decorated Christmas trees. Come and see and enjoy them.

The Devon Countryside Access Forum is a statutory local access forum under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. It has seventeen members who advise on the “improvement of public access to land for the purposes of open-air recreation and the enjoyment of the area..” The Forum gives independent advice to a number of Government bodies in addition to Devon County Council, district and borough councils and parish and town councils.

Devon County Council is currently appointing members to the Forum and would like to receive applications from anyone with an interest in recreational access.

In this round of appointments applications from keen walkers would be particularly welcome as the Forum is looking at coastal access (the England Coast Path) on stretches between Kingswear and Cremyll and Combe Martin and Marsland Mouth. All applications will be considered and we would love to hear from landowners and managers, access users and people with other relevant professional interests such as planning, education, sport, sustainable transport and business, or people who could represent groups currently under-represented such as young people or ethnic minority groups. Although membership is voluntary, a generous mileage rate is paid.

Why don’t you consider applying to join the Forum? It’s an interesting opportunity and you can:
- contribute to the debate
- share your experience and expertise from your specific field
- meet and work with others
- listen to and share ideas on solving access problems
- help make a difference
- influence local and UK policy affecting access
- be informed
- receive regular local and national access information updates

For details and an application form please see www.devon.gov.uk/dcaf

The closing date is Friday, 9th February 2018.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
