What’s happening in the Churchyard?

March 2023

It is good to see the daffodils beginning to bloom along the church path, and the snowdrops we planted a couple of years ago have finally clumped up and are in full bloom.  We have begun to create wildflower mini meadows bu removing chippings from one double grave (with the permission of the family) and replacing them with a thin layer of soil, into which we have sown wildflower seed and we hope to go on to create more mini meadows.  Once the wildflowers are established we will register the churchyard with B-line, a national network of wildflower areas creating pathways for bees and hoverflies.  If you and your family would like to participate in this biodiversity project please contact Betty (451132) for details of how you can help.

Alongside efforts to enhance the attraction of the churchyard work is going ahead to restore and repair the church building.  We have now received a schedule of works, detailing what needs to be done, from the architect and these details have gone out to tender.  The process of seeking the relevant permissions from the Diocese and Local Authority to start the work is already underway and then the arduous process of applying for grants to complete the work will begin.

Please phone Roger Walter (451132) for further information
